Recovery from Stress and Burnout II (The 7th sense solution)
As a trainer and coach my objective is to guide people out of and away from overwhelming stress and burnout. I am constantly observing and better understanding the subtle thinking patterns of burnout, which have a powerful dulling influence on self confidence, self motivation and dynamic thinking.
Dynamic thinking is the thought processes that spawns ideas. It makes connections with visualising future objectives and that allows that entire creative process to gel thus, becoming a new reality. That is until overwhelming stress or burnout stops this process working.
Dynamic thinking is going on all the time. This creative process functions in your dream state and from waking and knowing why you get up in the morning , all the way through to, day-time creative thinking that motivates every action or planning whether personal, family, friends, getting the kids to school, catching the train, taking the car to the garage for its maintenance or your job/business, etc.
Persistent and long term stress that creates overwhelming stress and burnout does so due to the chemicals it causes the body to produce in the form of hormones. These hormones such as cortisol (known as the stress hormone) normally have important functions. It is massive long term exposure to Cortisol that becomes damaging rather than helpful. This works like food, which is important to growth and health. The right amount of food keeps the body supplied with all its nutritional needs. Too much food for a long duration causes all manner of health problems in the long term.
Excessive amounts of the stress hormone cortisol is known to do many bad things to brain cells, muscle tissue, the immune system and general health. Details are widely available on the internet. Cortisol and other hormones also affect thinking patterns, which lead most extreme sufferers into a lack of self confidence, lowered moral in general, a lack of self motivation, no dynamic thinking and one or more of the many forms or feelings of being stuck or in a dark pit.
Lets call this ‘cortisol poisoning’ because that is what it is described as doing in extreme stress situations by the scientists that have researched this hormone. Perhaps the word poisoning is important because it is packed with one powerful meaning. ‘It is dangerous!’ Knowing how dangerous cortisol is in high and long duration doses, may just cause some more suffers of massive stress syndrome to think seriously about what is really the best solution
The only way to reduce high levels of cortisol is to stop the behaviour that triggers high levels of its production. The best way to do that is to reduce stressful beliefs, values and behaviours.

One of the observations that have arisen from my own study of overwhelming stress and burnout is that there seems to be another element of intelligence that governs thought patters. This may be connected to high levels of cortisol production but in a very subtle manner. This intelligence works like a sixth or possibly seventh sense a sort of protective intuition that may have connections to body’s innate healing and immune systems. Let us call this a 7th sense. This 7th sense is the process that kills self confidence, self motivation and so on. It does this for a very good reason. The reason is to stop the stress producing behaviour and process. The problem is that this hormone does not understand modern life patterns of personal finances, work or personal and professional development, family pressures, etc. Therefore the stopping process, in our modern world environment simply creates a different form of stress, which maintains the high stress or burnout condition.
The 7th sense is all too aware that your previous active self with your attendant beliefs is exactly what got you into overwhelm or burnout.
Therefore the solution is to change the thoughts and beliefs that create or support high levels of stress.
One observation is that this 7th sense intelligence seems to be responsible for blocking any attempt to recover. The reason why is now more clear. Recovery means to go back to where you were before the rupture of your previous active self. The 7th sense is all too aware that your previous active self with your attendant beliefs is exactly what got you into overwhelm or burnout. Thus it will do everything in its power to stop you doing that again. Yes it does this by blocking self confidence, self motivation and all the other achieving, performance thinking patterns.
Thus, the greater the effort or force employed to recover, creates its equal and opposite resistance.
Therefore, all attempts to get back to your normal self are simply shut down. In this condition it is possible to put enormous effort and knowledge into endless projects. Inevitably they all come to nothing because the conscious mind that tries to be creative is up against a far more powerful force or intelligence. Thus, the greater the effort or force employed to recover, creates its equal and opposite resistance.
The ‘Resistance syndrome’ is not uncommon, there are many examples known to medical science.
The conclusion of this study is in finding a solution and formula to break patterns of limiting cycles that cause the body to work against itself. Invariably this is the same thing or things that have been ignored for a very long time.
